Description

Antique Regency Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase and dating from around 1820. Of quality mahogany it has a cornice top above a deep frieze and two arched glazed panelled doors set within a cross banded surround and with brass door divider. There are three internal adjustable shelves. The base has a squared cross banded edge above a deep drawer front which opens to reveal a lovely interior with a row of eight pigeon holes to the top and centre flanked on either side by two small drawers and a further two small drawers to the centre. It has a green tooled leather skiver.
There are three long graduating drawers all of which are oak lined with brass handles and it stands on bracket feet.
The top separates from the base for ease of transporting.
Measures: 82" high x 40" high to top of base x 26" knee height x 21" deep x 45" wide ( internal; depth to bookcase 9.3/4")
In very good condition with a lovely deep colour and patination to the quality mahogany oozing all the charm and character of the Regency period.
