Description

ANTIQUE GEORGE 1ST COUNTRY OAK COFFER DATING FROM AORUND 1700. IT HAS A THICK DOUBLE PLANK TOP WITH CARVED FRIEZE TO THE TOP SIDES AND CENTRE WITH TWO PANELS TO THE FRONT. IT HAS PANELLED SIDES AND ORIGINAL ROUGH HEWN PANELLED BACK. IT STANDS ON SQUARED FEET AND IS HAND & PEG JOINED WITH ORIGINAL IRON LOOP HINGES.
NOW WITH A LOVELY COLOUR AND PATINATION THE PHOTOGRAPHS SHOW IT AS LIGHTER THAN IT IS. ONE OF THE FRONT PANELS HAS A NATURAL SPLIT.
