Description

Antique Early 19TH Century Elegant Mahogany Secretaire Cabinet Desk with secret compartment and dating from around 1840. Constructed from quality mahogany it has a polished top which lifts to reveal secret storage compartment above a wide crossbanded flamed mahogany frieze. There are two flamed mahogany panels with working key and which folds down to form a writing surface with faux leather skiver set within a mahogany surround. The interior having assorted pigeon holes and letter racks with a small drawer to each side. The base has a moulded edge to the top with crossbanded frieze and a long Flamed mahogany drawer which is mahogany lined with ornate brass handles and lock escutcheon. It is raised on ring turned legs and the top separates from the base for ease of transporting.
