antique regency mahogany secretaire chest with secret drawers c1820

Description

Antique Regncy Mahogany Secretaire Chest and dating from around 1820. Constructed from quality Mahogany it has a moulded edge to the top above a false drawer front with brass handles and key and which opens to reveal a superb serpentine shaped inlaid mahogany interior with a central arched panelled door with sunburst inlay in fruitwood flanked on either side by a concealed column drawer. There are various arched pigeon holes above serpentine shaped drawers with fruitwood inlay. To each other end the last pigeon hole slides out to reveal secret drawers and compartment.
The Secretaire sits above two long deep drawers and all of the drawers are oak lined with brass handles and have fine inlaid stringing. It is moulded to the base and is raised on bracket feet.
